This collection presents two outstanding works by the German writer Franz Kafka – "Metamorphosis" and "Letter to His Father". "Metamorphosis" is a novella about Gregor Samsa, a traveling salesman, for whom an ordinary morning turns into a nightmare that changes... his accustomed life forever. How will the physical changes of the main character affect his relationships with his family and his psychological state? How will the world perceive his new "self"? "Letter to His Father" is a deeply personal, frank text in which Kafka describes his complex relationship with his father. These letters represent an attempt to understand his feelings and explore how the relationship with his father influenced his personal and professional life. Can words on paper help overcome personal tragedies and find understanding? The texts of the works are adapted for those continuing to study the German language at an intermediate level (levels B1-B2 – Oberstufe) and are accompanied by commentary. After the stories, exercises with answers are provided. At the end of the book is a glossary of the vocabulary used, which facilitates reading.
